The Book.
Hello dear reader,
I hope these late-summer weeks are bringing you pockets of ease and bursts of abundance. I hope while the earth does her back-and-forth dance of preparing for autumn that your realm reflects some clearing, some readying for good release.
This moon, my muse-offering comes in the form of some news I’ve been vibrating to share for a loooong while now. My first book of poems, What Blooms in the Dark, is **officially** available to pre-order from Moon Tide Press and is set to arrive on your doorstep in October. I’d also like to invite you to save the date of October 30th for the release reading, which I am unabashedly thinking of as my book’s birthday party—a spooky, intention-infused soirée with a smattering of my favorite poets/musicians/artists showcasing their work alongside mine. Details coming soon. Will there be 101 roses strewn about the room? Come and see. Will you be encouraged to wear your most fabulous, witchy, vibrant outfits? Certainly.
The experience of “wrapping up” this work that’s been brewing in me for four years now is wild, to say the least. These poems span a great deal of my lifetime and some reach into lifetimes before mine, so for me it feels huge to reveal, even to my small corner of the world. And while I ready myself to do that, I’m just brimming with endless gratitude for the community I’ve found myself so luckily surrounded by, both near and far, in an earthly and etheric sense. This book would not exist without many people’s encouragement, edits, and belief in this work. For me, What Blooms affirms that transformation—within ourselves, within our lineages, within our world that so needs our hopefulness and audacity for cyclical growth—is not only possible, but beckoning. Transformation is something we are meant to do.
Tracing the poet’s journey of release, return, and rebirth, this debut collection dives into the dark necessarily, as a precursive measure for arcing back up toward the light. Poems that recount generational violence and addiction converse with others that conjure healing and illumination in the cycles of nature. What Blooms in the Dark, ultimately, is a work of spiritual transformation and the power of love.

In the Orbit…
May I draw some extra attention to the book’s cover artist, Esther Loopstra. Esther is a painter and writer living in Seattle whose art explores, in her words, “ideas around the interconnectedness of our bodies, the environment, and the mystery of the infinite.” She is also an educator and creative coach. I was immediately magnetized toward Esther’s art upon discovering it (both her paintings and poems) and her creation for the cover of What Blooms captures the energy of this book with what feels to me like cosmic precision. She is also a joy to work with.
Poet and musician Corbin Louis is hosting a film fest at The Beacon this Saturday Sept. 4th, showcasing some of Seattle’s most beloved band’s music videos. You do not want to miss this one. There are only a few tickets left—snag yours!!
Please check out and spread the word about Workshops 4 Gaza, an incredible group of autonomous writers, artists, and educators organizing workshops to raise funds for relief in Palestine.
As always, a gust of thank-yous for reading and supporting my work, and the work of many beloveds in our community. ‘Til the next moon ~
